Understanding the PMA

The PMA is our local racing circuit that brings racers from all over the Peace region together for a fun season of motocross racing! Each city has their own track that will host 1 or 2 races a year including places such as Grande Prairie, Beaverlodge, Taylor, Fort St. John, Peace River, Dawson Creek, Fort Nelson, and Chetwynd! To get more information on the PMA and to see the updated racing schedule, go to the PMA Website (Link to website located below)

Memberships & Race Fee's

You MUST have a PMA Membership to race any of the races. If you plan on only racing 1 race, you can purchase a PMA day pass on the day of the race you're attending at the registration table $25/per rider (you may only purchase 2 day pass' a season). If you plan on racing more than 2 races, you may be better off purchasing a Membership that will be valid for the full year. You can purchase a PMA Membership at their website or on the day of the race.

Please note, all our PMA riders that have had previous memberships get first dibs at bike numbers. Every bike racing in the PMA needs their own number (no duplicates). You may be asked to change your number if someone already has it.

*To ensure riders can keep their bike numbers, they must purchase their PMA Memberships before a given date (that's well before the first race). If riders don't comply, their number may be taken by someone else.

On top of the PMA Memberships, you also must pay your club race fee's to enter a race. You do this when you register in the morning at the registration table (registration starts at 8:30am the morning of the race, if you're not registered you can not race.) Its costs $20.00/per class. You may enter more than 1 class, however, your age, bike size, and ability will determine which class you will be allowed into.

Transponders

Every racer (50 cc 4-6 excluded) must have a Transponder! These are important as they keep track of your lap times and what position you finish in. If you plan on racing a full season, you can purchase your own transponder at MyLaps.com. If you do not want to purchase one, you can always rent a transponder for the day at the registration table on the morning of the race. Rentals cost $40.00/day and you must supply a credit card or government-issued ID. Rental Transponders ARE LIMITED and it's not guaranteed that you will have the option to rent one.

Transponders can also be shared between bikes, given they will not be shared with racers in the same race (as each bike needs its own transponder). Keep in mind, it is recommended that you don't share with someone whose race is right after yours.

Transponders can take a while to charge and the older ones will only hold a charge for about 3 or 4 days. Make sure your transponder is fully charged before each race!

You can check out previous race times and placings at: Speedhive.mylaps.com.

If you purchase your own Transponder, make sure it is activated! You do this by downloading the MyLaps Program. You will also have to purchase a subscription in order to do this.

If you need help please contact the MyLaps support team.

Other Information

The PMA race schedule will be announced early in the spring. Most of the races will be 1 race taking place on a Sunday. Some races that tend to be a further drive will be 1 race over 2 days (Each class will only race once a day to make the day go by faster). A couple of our tracks will host 'double headers' which is 2 full races over Saturday and Sunday.

Every race on the circuit will allow you to camp at the track the night before the race. However, some may charge a camping fee(usually no more than $10/night).

Please make sure you show up to the races with approved gear. There is more information on this on the PMA Website.
